A Syrian child's eyes showed us the way.
He was a Syrian child in our foster care… In his eyes was a weariness that had lost its childhood too soon; in his heart, a hope still trying to hold on. What he needed was not simply a warm home, but something to hold onto in life itself… Through him, I understood something more deeply: touching a child’s life is not only about saving that child — it is about reviving the compassion within humanity itself.
Sometimes a single gaze is enough to lay the foundation of an association.
“Touching a child's life is not only about saving that child — it is about reviving the compassion within humanity itself.”
I set out on this path with my own two children beside me.
They have been like elder siblings to the children in our foster care — and today they stand beside our children in Africa with that very same tenderness. Loyalty, compassion, taking ownership… all of it comes to life, above all, in the hearts of my own children.
Kinship begins in the heart, not at a border.
